Middlesex Over 50's/60's

13 September 2026
A good morning's work

After the Summer break the Middlesex League returned on Sunday 13th September at Rayner's Lane for our Over 50's and 60's.

The Over 60's had a successful morning returning three wins and a draw including a victory over close rivals Watford.

The lads, after 10 years wore their new green kit sponsored by JPME. Special mention to Paul Bagley, who in the absence of our regular Over 50's keeper Dave Bradbury, who was away on holiday, played eight games keeping four clean sheets!

Our first game against Pimlico ended 1-0 with Jim Holmes scoring the only goal of the game and he was on target again in a 1-1 draw with London Irish. Holmes is on fire with nine goals in his previous four outings at the Tring Charity Tournament. Watford were next up with the winning goal coming from Mike Oakley. 1-0 the final score.

Barnet were our last opponents and Dave Turner scored the only goal of the game this time. 1-0 the final score.

Squad: Paul Bagley, Mike Oakley, Mike Parkes, Mark Mannell, Dave Turner, Mark Bagley, michael Cocomazzi, Jim Holmes.

It was a tough return to leaue fixtures for the Over 50's, with only four regular players available and half of them with 'man flu'!

A big thanks to the over 60's for making up the team. Again a special mention for Paul Bagley in goal, club hero of the week!

Having said it was tough, we only lost our first game against Bounds Green 1-0. Tottenham were our next opponents and again another slim loss. 2-0 the final score. Peruvians were up next and two goals from Paul Lowe and Pat Corregan gave us a 2-1 win. Next up were the Andorrans (is this an international league?) and another tough game, but that man again, Jim Holmes scored to give us our second win of the day. So all-in-all not a bad set of results considering the circumstances.

Squad: Paul Bagley, Barry Crane, Paul Lowe, Pat Corregan, Matt Toms and a guest appreance from Mike Oakley.

Onwards and upwards to the next round of league matches on Sunday 11th October.
